A short distance from the lighthouse and the archaeological site of the island of Chrissi or Gaidouronisi is the chapel of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and all people of the sea.
The small chapel of Saint Nicholas is said to be a building of the 13th century.
Interventions that have been made, over the centuries, on the church do not allow for safe conclusions regarding its dating.
Inside the church, a wooden iconostasis with two icons that, to save space, host two figures each: the venerated Saint Nicholas with the Virgin Mary holding the baby, one, and Jesus with Saint John the Baptist, the other.
Outside the church, a well with almost brackish water has been opened, while the archaeological remains that we see around it are also of interest.
A section excavated at the site brought to light half of an arched cistern approximately 8 meters long which was constructed during the Roman period, repaired, strengthened and continued to be used in various eras, until Ottoman times.
